WM Receives 2003 Corporate Award
WM was selected to receive the National Forum for Black Public Administrators' (NFBPA) 2003 Corporate Award. WM was recognized for its commitment to grooming and supporting young black managers and aspiring executives, and to pay tribute to the company's commitment to public/private partnerships that improve quality of life for citizens. The Award was given at the conference held in Fort Lauderdale, Fla. Maury Myers, CEO of WM, accepted it on behalf of WM from NFBPA President, Robert Bobb. The mission of the NFBPA is to strengthen the number of African Americans in public administrative positions and to increase the amount of African Americans in public service organizations.
2003 National Conference of Black Mayors Honors WM
WM received the 2003 President's Award from the National Conference of Black Mayors (NCBM) at the 29th Annual Convention held in Houston, TX from April 22-27. Mayor Marilyn Murrell of Arcadia, Okla., President of the Conference, presented the award to WM in recognition of the company's continuing support of the organization and assistance the program of the nation's black mayors. The NCBM is a non-profit, non-partisan, non-political organization that serves of 500 African American Mayors. WM has been a charter member of the NCBM Corporate Advisory Committee (CAC) since 2001.
